Release Notes

Please give feedback.

I think the last build had issue as I did not include the setting file... sorry... I am new to this project and the way the settings are managed is on my list of things to improve.

This is a beta release based on V2 code

download http://tvmetadatafinder.codeplex.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=22654 if you want the last stable build.

I have been using this with no problems.

The following features have been added:
  1. You can now scan or monitor a drop folder
    1. Drop folders contain files names as; show.e01s03.avi or show.1x03
    2. Show can be renamed, eg show.s01.e01 can be renamed to show (2008)
    3. You can change the regular expressions that parse and rename the shows by editing uiSettings.XML
    4. The drop folder also gets monitored
  2. Checkout the experiments menu, it has an option to scan your shows to for new seasons and episodes
    1. Due to data on thetvdb it can sometimes give false infomation. I am looking into this.
Other :
  1. UI hangs have been improved
  2. When using the drop folder items are now queued up.
  3. Its now an API, references the DLL from your own code to extract metadata

I have change the way files are renamed. Testing has been done with {Ep No} – {Ep Name}
Most off this work as been done by me, Steve Drake (tvmdf@drakey.co.uk).
(Note I am having issues with this email, post comments to my hotmail if this fails steve_phone@hotmail.co.uk )

If this application does not find your TV information, <http://thetvdb.com/>
suggests that you add it to their site as a contribution.

To use this software:
1. Click Browse to find the directory to your video files
2. Select the format you want the files to be renamed
3. If you want the files to be renamed, select the Rename Files checkbox
4. If you want to be prompted with what the file will be renamed to,
select Prompt Each File
5. If you want the Meta Data to also be stored in the metadata folder,
check the Save Meta Data check box.
6. Click Start.

Note :
I have added a new regex to the settings

<SearchAndReplace>
<SearchFor>^\w+-</SearchFor>
<ReplaceWith />
</SearchAndReplace>

This is usefull as it sorts out files name like xyz-show.s01e01 as it removes the xyz-

Reviews for this release

Clearly a lot of work has gone into this release, it has moved on considerably since the previous version. I particularly like the drop folder used to download TV shows to prior to being sorted into my TV show folder structure, this saves me a huge amount of time.
